How to Copy a Screenshot to Clipboard in LamShot
Copying a screenshot to the clipboard is the fastest way to paste it into a chat message, email, or document. LamShot can do this automatically after every capture, or you can copy manually with a single click.

Open LamShot Settings
Right-click the LamShot tray icon and choose Settings. In the Settings window, look for a section called Clipboard or After Capture.

Enable the auto-copy option
Check the box labeled "Copy to clipboard after capture" or similar. With this on, every screenshot you take is placed on your clipboard the instant the capture completes — before you even see the toolbar.

Save and test
Click Save, then take a screenshot. Open any app that accepts pasted images (Slack, Teams, Gmail compose, Word, Paint) and press Ctrl+V. Your screenshot should appear immediately.
Manual Copy from the Toolbar
If auto-copy is disabled, you can still copy any screenshot with one click. After a capture, the LamShot toolbar appears next to the image. Click the Copy button (clipboard icon) to put the current screenshot on your clipboard.\n\nThis also works after you have added annotations. Click Copy after drawing on your screenshot, and the annotated version — not the original — is what gets copied to the clipboard.
Pasting Your Screenshot
Once the screenshot is on the clipboard, switch to the target app and press Ctrl+V. This works in virtually any app that accepts image input:\n\nMessaging apps like Slack, Teams, Discord, and WhatsApp Web — paste directly into the message box.\n\nEmail clients like Outlook, Gmail, and Thunderbird — paste into the compose window to embed the image inline.\n\nDocument editors like Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice — paste to embed the image at the cursor position.\n\nDesign tools like Figma, Photoshop, and GIMP — paste to create a new layer from the screenshot.
Things to Keep in Mind
The Windows clipboard holds only one image at a time. Taking a new screenshot (or copying anything else) replaces the previous clipboard content. If you need to keep multiple screenshots, save each one to disk or use the pin feature before capturing the next.\n\nSome apps accept only text paste and will not display pasted images. If Ctrl+V does not work in a particular app, check whether it supports image paste or use the save-to-disk route instead.

Does copying to clipboard also save the file?
Not automatically. Clipboard copy and save to disk are independent. You can enable both in Settings so every screenshot is copied and saved at the same time.
Can I copy an annotated screenshot to the clipboard?
Yes. Add your annotations using the toolbar, then click the Copy button. The clipboard receives the fully annotated image, not the original capture.
Why does the pasted image look blurry in some apps?
Some apps downscale images when pasting into small containers. The clipboard data itself is full resolution. Try pasting into a larger canvas or using the app's image insert feature instead of paste.
Is there a clipboard history feature in LamShot?
LamShot itself does not maintain a clipboard history, but Windows 11 has a built-in clipboard history (Win+V). You can use that to access previously copied screenshots.
