How to Change Screenshot Hotkeys in LamShot

LamShot lets you assign any keyboard shortcut you like for capturing screenshots. If the default hotkey conflicts with another app, or you simply prefer something easier to reach, changing it takes less than a minute.

Step 1 — Open LamShot Settings

1. Right-click the tray icon

   Find the LamShot icon in the system tray at the bottom-right of your screen. If you do not see it, click the upward arrow to show hidden tray icons. Right-click the LamShot icon to open the context menu.

2. Click Settings

   Select Settings from the menu. The LamShot Settings window opens. You can also press the gear icon inside the post-capture toolbar to reach the same window.

Step 2 — Go to the Hotkeys Section

In the Settings window, click the Hotkeys tab (or Keyboard Shortcuts, depending on your version). You will see a list of actions — region capture, full-screen capture, window capture, and possibly others like "repeat last capture" — each with its current shortcut displayed beside it.

Step 3 — Assign a New Shortcut

1. Click the hotkey field you want to change

   Click the input box next to the action you want to reassign. The field becomes active and shows a blinking cursor or a "Press keys..." placeholder.

2. Press your desired key combination

   While the field is active, press the combination you want — for example, Ctrl+Shift+S or Alt+F2. LamShot records whatever you press and displays it in the field. Most combinations of Ctrl, Alt, Shift, and a letter or function key are supported.

3. Resolve conflicts if prompted

   If your chosen combination is already used by Windows or another app, LamShot may highlight the field in red or show a warning. Choose a different combination to avoid conflicts. Common conflicts include Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, Ctrl+Z, and Win+Shift+S (Windows built-in snipping).

Step 4 — Save Your Settings

Click Save or Apply at the bottom of the Settings window. The new hotkey takes effect immediately — no need to restart LamShot or Windows. You can test it right away by pressing the new combination.

Resetting Hotkeys to Defaults

If you want to go back to the original shortcuts, click the Reset to Defaults button in the Hotkeys section. This restores all hotkeys to their out-of-the-box values at once.
